I put my "winter water", whether bota or hydration bladder, in a roll top dry bag/stuff sack before putting it in my sleeping bag. Then if the container leaks the dry bag will contain at least 95% of it.

I generally carry my winter water in an old Evian bottle. I have a squirt lid on it.
