Hammock ban in Big Bend NP?? - 04/25/16 08:12 AM

A friend just got back from BBNP a week ago and informed me they don't allow hammocks in the back country. Claim "tree damage". I couldn't find this on their website. Anybody else hear this?

Sounds like a viscous rumor intentionally started by the scorpions and snakes.

Would be an odd policy unless there's something peculiar about the trees that makes them susceptible to damage.

My guess....folks are using the same trees in the designated campsites. Not all that many trees up there but plenty for hammocks. I've hammocked there for decades. This is a shocker.
