First trip of the year

So my buddy and I made our first trip out this year. We went up to a campground his parents host. We were doing a trial run to see what we would forget and how our stuff worked.

We got there on Friday evening and made camp. It snowed/hailed/rained lightly on and off through Saturday evening. Nights were cold, probably somewhere around 25 degrees I would imagine. It was between 25 and 30 in the mornings at 6:00am. I stayed nice and warm in my Campmor 15 degree bag, thanks to everyone who recommended it. It kept me warm, and in fact there were a couple times I was too warm. So I was pleased with that.

We ended up coming home earlier than expected. We fished just about everything and didn't get as much as a look, nothing jumping, nothing feeding. I think it was just too early in the season. After trying a bunch of the streams around, we decided to head up to a lake that wasn't too far off. The road wasn't horrible at first, but as we got farther in there was more snow melting. So the roads started turning to mud. Eventually we ended up stuck, we got out and started to try to dig out the car so we could go back. After about an hour or so, 2 four wheelers and a jeep came around. They were great and helped pull our car out(it ended up taking all of them). After that we decided that it was time to head home. We went back, cleaned up, packed, and then headed home.

All in all though, it was a good trip!

Thanks for sharing. The outdoors can be a learning experience. Lots more trips to come I am sure.

what was the location of the trip?

(apologies if it's stated in the pics/links, as I haven't looked at them yet)

It was Meeks Cabin Reservoir.
It is right on the Wyoming-Utah border. Most of the res is in Wyoming, but part of it is in Utah.

It was still REALLY wet up there, and there was still a lot of runoff apparent. The water was pretty murky and was running fast. It isn't too surprising though, the way up was snowed in until the day before our trip(the day before memorial day).

Yeah it took a bit to get it unstuck, but luckily the only damage was to my friends pride.
