They usually have a spring sale, timed with the release of dividends, this year set for late March. In addition to the items that are marked down, a regular feature has been your choice of one item on which you can take a 20% markdown.

I am contemplating my choices........

Oops! Now that I read your post carefully, I see that you are talking about REI Outlet. The above does not apply to outlet stores. I don't think you are going to get much better than 30%, unless you get into "scratch and dent" territory.

Dividends are set to go @ Mar 14.

oldranger is right that 30% is probably about as much discount as you'll see on that GoGo, unless they bought a ton of them and it shows up on the Deal-of-the-Day one day. (Don't hold your breath.) If you think it's THE ONE for you, buy it at that $195 price. I'm still mulling it over.

That's a good deal on the Gogo. If you want to roll the dice wait a little longer but the supply may dry up.

i was just thinking its a similar price on another site, so even if it does sell on REI i can just buy it off the other site. but if it never will go down id rather just get it now

A magical coupon just appeared at REI-Outlet last evening!

It gives you an extra 20% off the highest priced item in your shopping cart. This offer lasts until 3/11. It would bring that GoGo down to approx $156.

Ugh, I can never find anything that I really need to purchase when REI sends out these 20% off coupons. I just end up ordering for the sake of it-- case in point, I am just debating about replacing my summer bag with the MH Phantom +45 or MH Lamina +45 which would come in at around $150 or $70 with the discount, both of which are great value for sub 2Lb summer bags if all you want is light and cheap.

For those who are only a few steps along the path of gear accumulation, REI-Outlet offers a grab bag of useless, oddball and second-rate goods, among which you can find the occasional gem (slightly flawed) for a great price. And if you don't like it you can return it with no hassle.

Once you've assembled a really good kit, REI-Outlet is mostly a timesink, with very little to offer. I am closer to this category than not, but I still waste time there. grin

It has always been this way. Before REI-Outlet, there were Army surplus stores, goldmines for a penniless student starting out. I bought a lot of stuff there, most of which was replaced by more suitable material. A very small fraction was worthwhile by any standard.

Mostly REI-outlet is great if you wear odd sizes.

REI-Outlet is running a special thru March 11, giving a 20% discount on the highest priced item on your order.

I put in 2 orders and bought a Brunton Talon stove for $21 and a REI Mojave +15 Down Bag for $95 after discount and taxes!

I didn't get the further discount on the +20 bag they had a little while back, but got an even better deal now!

If you want multiple items, just do separate orders for each item. There doesn't seem to be anly limit to the number of times you can take the discount.

I would have to agree, I don't go into REI unless it is for specifics. I needed a pair of hiking pants (old ones were worn out) and I picked up a pair of MH Mesa pants for $25 (down from $75)-- I don't know, I feel compelled to enter the store, but when I do I often wonder why-- if it wasn't for their outlet sending me emails then I would probably never go.

FWIW-- I passed on both sleeping bags-- I just did not need one-- I am going to put the $$$ towards a smaller pack-- which I also do not need, but will provide more use.
