Manistee River Trail?

Anyone hike this one and loop back on the NCT? Just wondering if it's a walk on hard pack or a nice weekend in the woods. Thinking about taking my older scouts to investigate. Approx 20 miles round trip according to the National forest info. Googling doesn't yield much for some reason. It's reasonably close for a weekend outing as I'm trapped in the west burbs of Chicago.

It is a great trip for scouts. You will see other scouts out there too. Nice beginner trail.

I have done the loop 15-20 times just because it is only about an hour away and I can leave in the morning and spend a night in the woods and be back the next afternoon when I just need a little outdoor time. I frequently start further down the NCT and make it a longer trip. The biggest problem for scouts is that there is only one place to get water on the NCT side so they either have to walk 10-12 miles or carry water.
