Winter clothing study

Winter clothing study - 12/23/11 03:17 PM

For those of you asking for a study of winter clothing, and yes, you know who you are, I have found one, courtesy of Pyreneo, a member of wintertrekking, so credit goes to him for the find. The first link is to an outdoor blogger who has written about this subject, the second is a study.

The study doesn't address the big issue of whether Goretex works in subzero weather, but there is enough anecdotal evidence to support that proposition.

Yeah I thought that was interesting too.

It be cool to use a thermal dummy that sweats to compare new materials to see how they all rate for handling that.

Read the study OM linked to in her new thread in the Lite Gear Forum. There is such a manikin for a sweat test-developed by the US Army (your tax dollars at work).

I know dummies who will sweat for free... grin

Seriously, the big trick for the mannequin wouldn't be sweating, but sweating at a precise rate and a constant temp, so that comparisons between test runs are always valid.
