perfered parking at bridge of the gods area pct

I'm working on a section hike (H) in aug. and most of the puzzle pieces are falling into position very nicely. the plan is to park my car in the Bridge Of The Gods area near the pct trail head area (bonus points if a motel is close by). I'll have a friend drive me to the trailhead in White pass. I'm not able to pick out much in the way of parking from google earth. so thought I would ask here. Any experenice as to a secure ( I know, nothing in backpacking is truly secure) place to leave a car there for two weeks? Thanking all in advance

I stayed at the Best Western at Cascade Locks a couple of years ago. It's within easy walking distance of the trail.

Yup, a local motel, RV park, that sort of thing in town seems like your best bet, or at least has worked well for me other places; I've not started from Cascade Locks, or at least not and left a car there.

I have left a car at White Pass a couple of times; the folks that run the motel there were easy to work with, and they have a nice large parking lot so no problem for them during hiking season.

thanks all... it seems there's plenty of motels and rv camps within walking distance....so it shouldn't be too much pain to secure a place to park( even if I have to pay for it) - I am very skiddish about parking at an actual trail head, after reading about the frequency of break ins near the trail.

I hope you can find a secure spot. The Columbia River Gorge is notorious for car break-ins!

There is also bus service from the north end of the Bridge of the Gods to Vancouver WA and to Portland (via Skamania Transit, transfer to CTran at Fisher's Landing and ultimately to Portland's TriMet). You'd need to arrange pickup in advance with Skamania Transit.

I did..I called a favorite inn of mine in Stevenson,Wa. and ended up talking to the manager. first night I parked the car and in the morning got a ride north to white pass. my intention was to stay there again on the last hiking day, but ended up getting there about mid day, so elected to go straight home.( about 140 miles north) the inn had supervised parking for guests. I had to leave the keys with the valet attendant. when I picked up my keys ( and tipped generously) went out to retrieve my car, and that's when panic set in...couldn't find it!- turns out the valet moved it into an adjoining lot.(that's a half hour of high stress!) I won't mention the inn's name since the manager was probably departing from the norm. my apologies for allowing sooo much time to pass without up dating this
