Glacier National Park in mid July - questions - 03/03/20 01:36 PM
Hi Everyone
First time poster but not first time out in the backcountry.
Looking to head out to Glacier in Mid July. I know the permit system opens in a few days. Looking at doing Many Glacier to Goat Haunt or maybe St Mary to Two Medicine.
I heard Many Glacier may be a headache this year with traffic so that is why we are considering the 2nd option as well. Though I feel confident if you get to Many Glacier when it first opens in the morning you'll beat the day trippers/families coming in and traffic wouldn't be awful?
Any indication of the snow impact this year and if some of these trails will be accessible in mid July? I am aware there is no crystal ball but any early indications?
Would prefer to find a 4 day/3 night route not requiring ice axes or crampons if possible. Open to other suggestions too. My group is open to 2 cars so we can do point to point and not worry about a shuttle, though we are open to shuttle opens too. We are trying to be flexible, minus our dates.
Dates are fairly fixed.
