Travel Light,Eat Heavy Along the Appalachian Trail - 11/27/09 09:33 PM

Re-Issue of:
"Travel Light, Eat Heavy Along the Appalachian Trail and Other Mystical Routes (Paperback)" Bill McCartney (Author)

http://www.amazon.com/Travel-Light-Appal...4923&sr=8-1

This book has been out of print for several years, and I found it accidentally.

The deal with this book is that you "Cook" by the "Boil, Pour, Stir, Wait, and Eat" method, but you don't do any dehydrating.

All the foods are said to be available from grocery stores, making resupply pretty easy.

You can buy from Amazon.com for $17.76 plus shipping or you can buy from one of those alternate sources in "4 New from $14.95", plus shipping. The alternate New seller is Gray House Press, which is actually the author, Bill McCartney.

That is where I bought mine and it is on the way via USPS.

The Amazon.com site lets you read a dozen or so pages and look through much of the index. So, you can get an idea of if it is anything you would like to have.

Unless you like PopTarts and Slim Jims, save your money and skip buying this book. I bought it and found almost no useful information in the book.

You can get as good or better information for free from Sarbar's website.

Her book is only $13.95.

Yes, I would have to say that was the best or one of the best sites that I have been to. I think that other than the food being good, the strong point of all this is the fact that once you get to the trail you are prepared to "COOK"...And oh yeah...."EAT"... There is always that, but with all jokes aside, the site is great and the recipes seemed endless...sabre11004... thanks goodjob thanks goodjob

Except for the chickpea and sweet corn, I picked out the exact same recipes. I've already made the spring pasta salad and it was EXCELLENT! Exactly what I was looking for, for my trip to Alaska! Thank you!!!
