GIT training a camp dog - 01/13/13 02:12 PM

My mini chiwa-pit bull has been in training for about a month now. Its important for a camp dog to understand the GIT commands, like:
Git back here
Git down
Git inta tent
Git outa the tent
Git inta truck
Git outa there
Git over here
Git off the sleeping bag
etc
Jim eek
p.s. and for the big pitty - "don't eat your little sister!" confused

It's also really useful to teach the dog to eliminate on command. The command used by Canine Companions for Independence (and for my Hysson, who came from there) is "Hurry." It took a couple of years before he'd always do it on command in strange places, though. He'd get interested in the smells and forget about peeing!

This way you can easily get the dog to do #2 in a place where it's easy to bury!

There's also "Git off my expensive custom insulated air pad," too!

A beginning agility course (when the dog is old enough) is also excellent; the dog learns to go through tunnels and over a teeter-totter, thus getting him confident around deadfall and crossing logs over streams.
