Titcomb Basin - 10/12/08 05:39 PM

You can look at bigger versions at http://picasaweb.google.com/coltongar/WindRivers08#5250486744534232514, and see my trip report at http://www.backpackingdiscussions.com/topic64.html

My brother, sister-in-law and I went to the Wind Rivers for a 3 day trip and camped at Lower Titcomb Lake in the Titcomb Basin. It was amazing! Glad I got the trip in before winter really kicked in! Its snowing at my house in Utah right now <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Great pictures! I like it that your tent blends into the landscape instead of being one of those obnoxiously bright colored ones that sticks out like a sore thumb! I hate to sound critical, but isn't your tent a little closer to the lake than USFS regulations for the Bridger Wilderness allow (200 ft.)? Or is that just the photo angle that makes it appear that way?

I had planned to go there this summer, but ran into trail closures with the New Fork Lakes fire. By the time I got to the Winds, the trails had re-opened, but by that time I had set my heart on Shadow Lake at the "back side" of the Cirque of the Towers. Lord willing, Titcomb Basin is on my list for next summer.
