MSR Universal stove and canister gas

Hi. After years of using the regular MSR stove with white gas/petrol etc., I recently bought the universal model. I have never used canister gas before. I have found that as I screw on or off the canister the gas leaks out. Am I supposed to do it very quickly or hold it in a certain way?

Unless you're doing it really slowly, the amount of gas escaping is really minute.

When you should be concerned is if you hear gas escaping after you've removed the stove. If this happens, immediately screw the stove back on and pack it that way.
