Summer sleep systems - 07/03/14 11:24 PM
Hello,
I'm relatively new and of course have several questions. First, most of my trips will be in the north Georgia mountains where our summer is quite hot and humid. I'm not a brand name fanatic. Some of my stuff is higher end and some is homemade. I'm also not fanatical about having the lightest pack...I like my heavy Baltoro, a tent I can move around in, and probably a little heavy in the kitchen department also. I suppose my thought is that I'll sacrifice a little weight for a little more comfort. That being said, my current sleep system is getting an overhaul...at least for the summer. I have a thermarest xtherm that I love, and I realize it is on the warm side, but want to try a 'quilt' instead of my regular bag because it's just too hot and a waste of space. Only issue is that I loathe sleeping in long johns or pants but don't want to lay on the bare thermarest. Any suggestions for something other than cutting up a sheet to put between me and the pad? Thanks!
