Bothy Bag?? - 11/29/13 06:57 PM

I saw some Bothy Bags on CampSaver (http://www.campsaver.com/group-shelter-2-person-bothy) and read the explanation of what they are for on Wikipedia.

My question is: How practical are they for an overnight shelter?

I never heard of those. They're interesting, and look like they'd be a great fast shelter to sit out pop up rain storms, but not much else. At least they don't look like they'd be good for sleeping in.

11 oz / 320 g
Sleep Capacity 2 Person
Floor Space 7 sq ft / 0.65 sq m
Vestibule Space Not Applicable
Max Inside Width 19.6 in / 50 cm
Max Inside Length 57 in / 145 cm
Head Height 37 in / 94 cm

I don't know 57x19.6" not very big, and definitely couldn't sleep 2 as advertised.

Unless you like sitting up all night in a plastic bag with another person, then they aren't very practical for an overnight shelter.

You have to have 2 people sitting up in one for it to work right. You can't have 1 or 2 people laying down.
