Tent Repair - 07/06/10 03:50 PM

I have a Marmot tent and I just discovered two tiny holes almost like a chipmunk bite on the side panel. Anyone have experience with fixing something like this? I'm going out Thursday.

Thanks.

Depending on how small they are you might get by with just some seam sealer or tape.

In mesh, a bit of sewing/darning ought to be enough. In fabric, applying some fabric tape, reinforced with stitching on the edges should be stronger than the original fabric. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies.

I found the repair kit that came with the tent when I bought it. It contained a number of replacement pieces including fabric for the floor, panels and rain fly. Some pieces were adhesive backed, some weren't. My guess is the adhesive backed pieces are for repairs in the field, and the others are for a more permanent repair (sewn and sealed).

I have to admit, I went the adhesive backed route and it's bonded very well. I'm good for my first solo BP trip this Thursday at Mount Rainier NP.

Take care!
