Okanagan Mountain Park - 06/27/11 01:07 AM

Was a long rest day today!

Friday at noon my 17yr old Blake and I started our hiked at the North Trail Head to Okanagan Mountain Park in Kelowna. We hiked for 7hrs to travel 17k to Commando Bay with 35lb packs each, we arrived at 7:00pm. We had just enough time to set up our tents and make supper and a fire before dark.

Saturday we were up at 6:00am for breakfast, we broke camp re-packed our packs and were back on the trail at 8:00am to hike out the South end to the Naramata / Chute Lake Trail Head. We hiked for 10hrs to travel 18k we arrived at the South Trail Head in Naramata shortly after 6:00pm.
This is a trip my boy and I will remember for ever.

I'm 55yrs old and over weight, instead of just talking and dreaming about it,I DID IT! (lost/sweated 16lbs on this hike)

Will be doing the West Coast Trail with my boy Aug 23rd with is buddy and Dad...... grin

Sounds fantastic! goodjob

Remember to rehydrate. Burning 16 lbs of fat would be about 65,000 calories, and 4000 calories is about what you'd expect to burn on a long, strenuous trail day. Considering that you probably weren't fasting that means you lost heck of a lot of water.

Thanks aimless,
I had taken in 3 ltrs of water the first day during the hike with 2hrs worth of breaks included in the 7hrs, and 4 ltrs of water The 2nd day with 3hrs of breaks included in the 10hrs.
(Drank have the lake the first night) lol

We had a katadyn pocket filter with us and replenished our water bottles from the creeks,Snacked on gorp on those breaks.
All and all I feel really good......
