Children die in horrible camping accident

I love trees but am becoming more aware of this danger. Last camping trip me and the kids took was in a Forest Service campground and I had no choice but to camp on the pad in our spot, right under some very tall Ponderosa Pine Trees. Looking up I could see some dead branches way high and I could also see where lower dead branches had been cut off. I considered the risk & did it anyway.

I don't think I'm camping like that again.

It's always a good idea to look up for "widow-makers" before pitching the tent. In some places, though, there's so much dead timber (beetle-killed trees) that about all you can to is to pick what appears to be the least risky spot. That's what I had to do last weekend.
