Holy moly, I don't ever want to be exposed to this stuff! (Bad enough to live where there's West Nile.)

You probably are exposed to this stuff, even as we speak. Hanta is not confined to the wilderness, or National Parks, but is known in urban environments as well. It is one of the reasons that mice present more of a danger to humans than lions or bears.

Yeah, I read that too and was kind of freaked out. I seldom ever camp in campgrounds or high traffic sites, so I wouldn't worry much about it myself.

When I cleaned swimming pools in LA, I saw more rats at the expensive homes with all the hedges and shrubbery than in the poorer neighborhoods. Used to find them in the skimmer baskets a lot. They'd pay you $40 a month back then just to come once a week and remove the rats wink
