Maybe "appeal to authority"? but I definitely prefer the Click & Clack alternative. IIRC they're also proponants of the tactical Dope Slap, which I recommend vigorously in this instance.

Reminds me of my grandpappies storie of the preacher treed by a bear. He prayed, "Lord if you can't help me then please don't help that bear."

Regarding the lunatic...if aliens from another world ever show up, I'm going to be pretty embarrassed about stuff like this.
