Kelty White Cloud?

Anyone used this pack? I'm looking at a used one and would love people's input both for using it for heavy loads with the frame sheet, or lighter bulkier loads with just the foam back panal. I'd especially be interested in hearing how it carries when stripped down for scrambling!
The other pack that I'm looking at is a regular ClioGear 60, so any input on either would be appreciated!

Actually I have had 2 and I have a cloud 6500. They are awesome, but don't strip it please. Do no cutting on it. Anyway what happens is the waterproofing used then "and maybe now" cannot really adhere too well to spectra and it comes off in dandruff sized bits all over your gear, you breath it etc.

I sent my registered original back and they gave me the cloud 6500 as a replacement. I bought number 2 second hand and sold it to my friend who says it too is too damaged from shedding waterproofing and I've offered him $20 bucks for his. I would invert it and remove the offending material as completely as possible, and maybe recoat, but most likely not - a large garbage bag works well as a waterproof liner and its a lot cheaper than a new spectra pack.

The number one thing is size. As I recall the White cloud was around 5,000 to 5,500 inches. Its the only pack that large and that light - 51 ounces if it has the titanium stay - that you will ever own. You can always replace any other pack but the white cloud. Its an ideal Winter pack and climbers pack. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I had one (white with purple trim) and the only real problem I had was the lid slipped miserably. It buckled with one strap but they've changed the newer design to two straps so it stays put now. I used it most often with the the heavy belt and no frame and it carried well at about 25lbs. I finally rigged a bladder to the frame and carried it that way with decent results. The best part of carrying it was the looks and questions you'd get from folks.

The one I'm looking at is a 4500? and it has purple straps.

I promise not to butcher it, but I was wondering your thoughts on the pack for scrambling/technical climbing? I know the Cliogear's carry well for this, but I was wondering about your experiences with the Cloud?

Do you find you can move easily, and twist from side to side, when wearing the pack with just the foam pad inside? Can you reach overhead, across your body and too the sides?
Does it carry well when less then full?
25-30 pounds will be the maximum that I have in it for climbing. Usually more like 15-20.
