Tarptent with Nunatak Quilt

I'm considering getting a quilt to use with my Tarptent (Contrail). But the Nunatak website warns about using a quilt with a tarp due to drafts.

Anyone use a Nunatak quilt with a tarptent? Significant draft issues? Does the lip on the built in floors in most Tarptents help?

I use my homemade down quilt with a tarp all the time and don't have any complaints. Yes, you can get drafts on very windy nights but for the most part I can keep my quilt sealed around me pretty well. My quilt is 48" wide at the top and tapers down to 38" at the foot end.

I regularly use a Nunatak Arc Alpinist both under a tarp and in a hammock. Just returned from a 5 day trip with temps 25-30 degrees at night. I've found that a lightweight bivy bag increases the temp range about 10 degrees. I believe you'll find quite a few of the ultra light crowd using tarps with their quilts.

I have a RayWay quilt with the "draft stoppers" which are 4" pieces of silnylon down the sides. You could probably add these to your quilt.
They allow me to pull the quilt in tight around my upper torso and also help keep out any air.

You can lower the Contrail so as to reduce the air flow.
Particularly if you have a recent version where the back can be dropped down.
Do that and decrease the height of the front pole a bit.
However, reducing air flow can increase condensation.
