EE Revelation quilt down moves around too much - 07/04/17 11:11 PM

Anyone else run it to this? I get bare spots. If I hold it up in front of the light I see areas with out down because it has moved around. No matter how much I shake it I still get bare spots. I just bought another down quilt from a cottage company that suppose to have better baffles

I have an older EE quilt, and it sometimes gets bare spots, but I am able shift the down into position easily.

I also have a newer EE quilt and they have fixed those issues on it.

It sounds like you don't have enough down in your bag. Assuming it doesn't have a leak, then it is possible your down is clumping. A wash and thorough drying might solve your problems (or possibly even just a thorough drying alone will work). I would send an email to Tim at EE. He has been very responsive to my questions in the past.

Mine is new. maybe 6 months old. maybe good wash would work. After i am done using my quilt bring in home and set it up on top of a air purifier that blows constantly on it and keeps it dry. I just purchased a hammock gear burrow zero. Im interested in see how it does

As BZH says, I'd still toss it in the dryer for about 10 minutes on medium heat, no need for tennis balls or any of that, and you might be surprised on how lofty it gets. I actually do this before every trip, even though the quilt is dry.

I live in a humid climate. I do notice it has a pretty strong odor after sleeping in it one night. Maybe because there are still oils in it. It has grey duck down in it. I have heard this can have an oder. My new quilt I ordered uses white goose down which is suppose to be odor free. I haven't received it yet and wont be able to test it out until late August in Sawtooth

most one man quilt shops will gladly add an extra oz or so to the quilt for a price, of course. lacking that I've found that laying the quilt over my deck railing in direct sun shine for a day ( or days- I take mine in over night) works wonders. I shake mine two or three times when passing by.

I think that is key. Throw it in the dry (do not use high heat!). I live in a very dry climate and it seems to keep down lofted much better. In terms of the smell, I think humidity plays a role. When I first got my new quilt (duck down) I noticed a smell. I believe it is due to being shipped from Minnesota which is more humid than here. After a couple weeks, the sell disappeared and I've never noticed it since.
