Please help identify this tent - 12/01/16 11:33 PM

Good evening everyone,

I need a tent pole for it, but i don't know what model of Northface tent this is. It's an older model. couldn't find any tags other than a warning that it is flammable. image search brought up a similar older tent called the talus. The following pictures are of the tent without the fly...

Wonder if I took it into REI, they might be able to identify or maybe fit a pole for it.

Your help is appreciated.

I can't help with identifying the tent, but do you have the pole (broken I assume) or did you lose it?

If you have the pole and can measure how long it is, you can get a replacement made.

*edit: Actually looking around, I think it is a North Face Tadpole 23

Lost the pole.

Tadpole 23 definitely looks like it. I think this will allow me to order a new pole. I'll also try to find a flexible stick to measure as you suggested so I can match against any pole to be ordered.

I really appreciate your response and search.

I would first check with North Face and see if they have a replacement pole they can send you. If they aren't much help, I have purchased poles from these guys:

Prices weren't super cheap, but reasonable and they delivered a quality product. You could use one of your two remaining poles to measure how long of a pole you need.

You could use one of the other two poles to get the approximate size.

Replacement poles also need to (or at least should) match the diameter and amount of flex from the original pole. From this perspective, off the shelf replacement poles that match the length won't always work. With a smaller tent, you could probably bring it into the store (on a slow day) and trial a replacement pole.

Good point about the pole because in this case just getting another 9mm pole may not work all that well.
The original front pole was a DAC reverse combi , designed to have a wider radius in the middle .
Looking at the photos I can't tell the difference (that is it appears to me that a standard 9mm pole would do that shape) but maybe not.
I don't know of anyone that sells those poles.

But before trying to get that pole I suggest examining the fly very carefully because some batches delaminated, cracked or became sticky after a few years.
