K·10 Hiking Crampons v Hillsound Trail Crampon PRO - 04/17/16 09:11 PM

Typically when I cross-post stuff from my blog, I like to type up a short summary and post some photos here. With my cross-country move, I am about 3 months behind on photos and trip reports. If I wait until I have the time write every trip report as well as a summary, I may never get this stuff posted. cry

I am not sure why they are selling "hiking crampons" that are not suitable for climbing. My old Bonoti Kong 10-point crampons weigh the same (22 oz) and are "suitable" for moderate mountaineering, up to a certain degree slope. If you are front-pointing on very steep ice then you need the heavy duty stiff crampons that are designed to work with a stiff technical boot. Flexible crampons are for flexible boots. If you just need traction, then micro-spikes work fine and weigh less.
