Lightweight? Probably not?

I know that lightweight is in the eye (or back) of the beholder (backpacker), but I thought this latest suggested addition to your gear from REI might be a bit much.

Wow, between this and the new tents with Christmas lights all my backpacking dreams have come true (even ones I didn't know I was dreaming).

Due to my general clumsiness, I can at last be literally off my rocker.

Cheers,

unfortunately (for us larger gents) it doesn't give a max weight capacity. If it packs small enough and can hold my derriere, I might consider tossing that into dry storage in the kayak and taking it on paddling trips...

max weight capacity is listed as 250 lbs.

I'm not sure what advantages this would offer over just having a rocker point like the Alite Butterfly. I actually take my Alite backpacking. It's nice to relax with back support.

Rei states very quickly your chair is a hair over a pound, yet I can't find a weight for the rocker. I'm guessing a little heavy for our purpose. My chair, when I have to bring it, weighs 2 1/2 lbs and doubles as a Garcia Bear Canister. Oh yeah, that's what it is....

Just added a young, strong novice to our hiking circle, who wants us to mentor him through his first few trips. He didn't seem to question carrying our rock collections - I wonder if he's gullible enough...
