LW WP gaiters, which to choose?

From what I've read so far the two winners in this class are MLD superlights and ID shortie. I've also read that there are problems with both of them. the MLD don't have reinforcement where they need it and will wear & tear quickly & the ID cinch at the calf can chafe. Can anyone confirm or deny these traits and/or offer alternatives?

I have both kinds. I use the ID shorties for day-hiking (mainly in tick season, to keep the critters from crawling up my pants) and the MLD shorties for backpacking, since they are lighter and pricier. Again, only in tick season or when snow or mud is a possibility.

I've had no problems with either. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

I have the MLDs. I've never had a problem with them.

I have used both LW WP & MLDs gaiters. Currently I have buy gaiters in this winter season online from Black Crystal Online. Still no problem with them.
