Hydration parts compatibility

Hydration parts compatibility - 04/04/14 09:48 AM

I have an older Nalgene hydration pack. In my last move, I seem to have lost the hose to the water bladder. Will a replacement Camelback fit it? (And not leak!?) Or should I just try to replace the whole set, if I can find a size that fits?

Thanks!

I'm not an expert on hydration systems because I use water bottles, but your question could easily be answered by checking the diameter of the hose as compared to that of the connectors.

One small thing the makers seemed to have settled upon is standardization of the hose and reservoir connectors, actually extending it to filter cartridges (at least in the case of Sawyer).

If it looks like this one, then it's standard.

Pro tip: find and carry a spare o-ring. The connection leaks like a sieve if it's ever lost.

It looks very similar. I should take it to the store and check.

Also looked at the Platypus Big Zip and noticed a definite difference in weight. Gear has changed a bit since I got divorced (and stopped a lot of outdoor activities to work two jobs!)
