EnLIGHTened Equipment Quilt - 05/04/12 04:02 PM

I got my Revelation X quilt last night from EnLIGHTened Equipment and I have got to say what a great quilt at an incredible price. I got a 6 foot, wide, 30°, overstuffed quilt with green fabric on top and black on bottom. The weight came out at 22.25 ounces on my scale. I searched for the "flaws" in the second quality fabric that made this price point possible. I found two little thread lines that were a different color in the green (difficult to find so barely noticeable). I couldn't find any flaws in the black fabric. Construction seems top quality and the down is sooo much nicer than the 1970's era REI bag this is replacing.

This is my first quilt, so I was interested in seeing how easy it would be to keep out drafts. Initially I stuck my feet in the foot box and pulled the quilt up around me. As I moved it was difficult keep me covered. Then I snapped the top button around my neck. It was difficult to close, but as soon as I did that, the whole bag pulled in around me. Then as I moved the bag moved with me. I quickly heated, so I pulled on leg out of the footbox and stuck it out. It was really amazing how warm the bag was and how easy it was to regulate temperature. I then realized it was much easier to keep the top button snapped and then duck in or out of the bag.

I am a very happy customer.

I saw your post on BPL. I've been thinking of getting one of these, seems like the best deal out there for the weight. Instead of looking at a purchase as only losing a few oz. from what I have now, may need to look at it as a purchase to update what I have and in the deal, something just a little warmer for those sneaky, chilly Sierra nights. With the weight his quilts come in at, if a stuff sack is used, I wonder what that brings the weight up to? I'll have to check out ZPacks stuff sacks, they gotta add a insignificant amount.

Thanks for posting this up BZH! Looks like quality workmanship and materials go into his stuff. I wish I had heard of Enlightened prior to my bag purchase last year, although I am very happy with my 20 degree WM bag. With the price point he has on this quilt, I'm thinking that I can pick up a 30 degree quilt down the road. The phrase Seconds may make some people nervous. However, it is usually something cosmetic. I use seconds any time I can in my manufacturing and have never had a problem. As long as you are up front with it, and use your own quality control, its a bonus for everyone.

Got mine 3 weeks ago, Same colors but the 6' reg with the 30% overfill for the 30 degree and tryed it out this last weekend on a trip used a silk liner to keep the inside clean.
I used a 8L WP bag to stuff mine in worked perfect. Wore a light fabric Balacava & use a 3/4 Z-lite pad just draped over me since was 42 degrees out & no thermals just a T-shirt & hiking pants.
