Chloine Dioxide Tablets??? - 10/18/08 07:49 PM

I have been using these for quite some time now and really like them but have always found that the packaging is a real hindrance. Very difficult to open even with a knife in my opinion.

I have also noticed that none of these tablets on the market are available in a jar and are only available in foil packaging.

I am considering taking them out of the foil packing and putting them in a small jar for my next trip, but I am wondering if this will somehow reduce their freshness or effectiveness.

Anyone know the answer to this?

thanks
Matt

Exposure to oxygen radically shortens the shelf life of the tablets. You might consider AquaMira drops - same chemicals, liquid form.

I too would suggest leaving the tablets in their protective bubble packaging. Actually, I use Micropur tablets and I tear them open with my fingers -- even when wet. If you have that much trouble, maybe cut a tiny notch at the periphery -- not to the bubble itself -- to ease tearing while in the field.

I would recommend against switching to liquid for these reasons:

1. requires tedious counting of droplets and an extra 5-minute pre-mix time
2. less potency than solids (solids have 3-4 times the active ingredient)
3. risk of spilling

Remember to not wipe your clothing after handling the tablets <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> They can leave bleach spots.....

(AM drops can do the same thing as well)
