what fabric is close to this pair of pants? - 07/21/14 10:53 PM

I have just started with the whole MYOG idea and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. However the stuff sacks can only go so far. I want to make a pair of pants. I found these today and I'm really curious what the material is.
http://www.prana.com/stretch-zion-pant.html?color=mud
93%nylon and 7% spandex.
Is this similar to a light weight cordura?
In want something coated to repell but still breathe.realitivly light, I want something I can replace my cotton kakis with.

Thanks

The Prana pants have Spandex, which means they have some stretch to them. I don't usually associate stretch with Cordura.

If your pants don't have to be rugged, and you want them to be very light, check out Argon fabrics carried by Dutchwaregear.com. The last I checked, they had 3 weights available. Argon is supposed to be very similar to Pertex.

http://dutchwaregear.com/argon-67.html I'm considering making a tank top and shorts from this to use as camp/town/sleep clothes. Long pants would be next, then a filled tunic/underquilt for my hammock.

Good Luck!
