I just finished my first G4s. The yellow one is mine, and the red one is my wife's. They turned out pretty good. My wife is 5'4", and I was going to followed the instruction on building the pack for smaller framed people. After measuring my wife, I determined that those alterations would not be enough. I had to take three inched off the waist belt, and an additional two inches off the shoulder straps. It fits her like a glove.

Well done! Oh, I sympathize with your wife. I'm 5'3" and had to adjust a short torso pack to its smallest size. Probably should have tried a kiddy pack!

click on "main index", look for the link to the "homemadegear.com" link and look at the packs, its the second one down, the "gvp g4" pack. The g4 is the perfect first pack. The dimensions are great, the construction is pretty good and the ability to modify it are endless. All my packs look NOTHING like the g4, but they are all based off those directions.
searsc... Nice job. I had to change the dimensions of my pack for my wife and its amazing how a nicely fitting pack benefits people of "not normal" sizes.

My best advise, go to Quest Outfitters and order the kit. Then, go to the yahoo page listed on the instructions, and go through the post. There is a guy on the site that has step-by-step photo instructions. They were helpful to me. I hope this helps you.
