In a controversial decision, the National Parks Service (NPS) in unison with the California's Animal Protection and Relocation Institute of Laguna (APRIL), a huge 2800 hectare section of California wilderness will be closed from all public access, effective immediately.

This translates to over 200 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail closed, making it impossible for any hikers to complete an official thru-hike from this day forward.

John Blisterfoot of APRIL comments, "We understand the inconvenience this may cause to hikers, but the White Footed Weasel has been an important icon in California, much the same as the Grizzly Bear. The protection of the Weasel has been the main focus of APRIL, so much so that this decision has been dubbed APRIL-1"

We have the same issues with jackalopes down here and closing off trails. I understand that they can be quite vicious with their sharp teeth and antlers. Thankfully due to the proactive actions of the Forest Service, no incidents have occurred in years.

Well! that blows my plans for making a trip to the left coast. Here in the south we just eat critters like that. Are they hard to catch? Betcha I can get one with my slingshot. A few years back, they made it legal to eat roadkill. Take a tip from Granny and Jed, it's mighty fine eatin.

Dudes,
If this was a real post, they wouldn't use "hectares"
This IS America, afetr all, but I did hear that a 200 mile section of the US/Canadian border IS being closed to keep Canadian backpackers out...

Nah, just join in on an approriate Festive Weasel-Related Holiday. Mind you to do it right those of you card-carrying trail runner mafia types might have to go get your old pair of boots out of the closet - Not sure Montrails and Keens have enough support for this application.

Where did I put my stompin' boots? I need to hurry up and join in. The best is the lady who stops the hunter from shooting, only to stomp.
