I just got back from the Pinnacles and boy are the late-season wildflowers going nicely! It's getting hot and dry, so they won't be lasting much longer I don't think, but there were TONS of clarkia (2 kinds), golden brodeia, buckwheat, larkspur, etc. Very worthwhile if you like flowers, should be good through next weekend, and of course some very nice hiking as well. Plus we saw condors pretty close up, a couple horned lizards, and 5 or 6 garter snakes swimming around in Bear Creek Reservoir hunting tadpoles (it's very small, more like a pond).
I know, I know, I still owe a trip report on Channel Islands (it was great!) and I'll try to put one together soon smile

unfortunately I was having trouble with my camera so a lot of my shots weren't focusing, plus I wasn't really taking many, but here's a few: https://goo.gl/photos/6Y2CKAwFVeQwLNNp9

PS I haven't tried to post photos before, please let me know if this works

Nice timing and great shots. Bet you're glad you weren't there yesterday--was 98 in my little corner of paradise and I'll bet Pinnacles was a lot more than that!

Cheers,
