Based upon your recommendations, I was about to fire off my order for the Passage 2 to REI when I noticed that "other shoppers had looked at" the REI Camp Dome 2. Other than a $50 price difference, my untrained eye doesn't see any real difference between the two other than 6 inches in length and an ounce in weight. Can someone shed some light on why one is really better than the other?
After reading ALL of the reviews for both tents, it seems that the Camp Dome 2 isn't really as long as the specs indicate and is cramped for people 6' or taller. The Passage 2 is on its way!
My guess is that the price difference is a result of the fly. The Passage has a larger fly with zippers. That means more material, and zippers that you have to add to the cost. If you were camping in snow, then I would say to pick the Passage. But, in south Texas, you need as much ventilation as you can get. So, the Camp Dome is probably the better choice for you.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
The Camp Dome seems to have a smaller fly/and now vestibule.
The Passage two has a sizable vestibule/fly overhang on both sides with an entrance on each side. Definitely a plus if you will be using it with two people as you do not have to climb over each other to get out.
I am very happy with my passage 2... Hope you are too!
I have the camp dome 2.... It does have 2 doors. Also, I'm 5'11, and I fit perfectly with my girlfriend, however, I wouldn't want to be much taller in the tent.
I chose the camp dome 2 because I want the least amount of stakes as possible. I only need a total of four for the corners.
I haven't used it yet but in setting up I really like my Passage 2. Very easy and fast to setup, even as a first time try with no instructions I did it in about 5 minutes. I was debating sending it back to get a SMD tent to save weight and space in my pack but I think at this point I'll just use the REI tent a season and go from there.
Looks like I'm going to order a Passage 2 myself. Thanks for all the great info, looked it up @ REI's webpage and the reviews are awesome.... This should do my wife and I a great service!
