Per the National Weather Service in Portland (Oregon, of course):

Quote:
"Now is a good time to make sure you are prepared in the event that all of the necessary ingredients come together for a significant snow event next week."

In the event that we have an event (always uncertain because so many factors have to combine to produce even one flake at low elevations out here): Time to stock up on kale! That's what the stores ran out of the last time snow was predicted here. We were deluged by photos of empty produce shelves with a few dangling wisps of wilted, unidentified vegetation. What the press neglected to mention was the shortage of beer needed to wash down the kale!
