Here is another option if you are after a high quality camcorder in a small package.
The Sanyo HD1000
Good points
Records True HD on an SD HC card (1920x1080p)
10x zoom
Great ergonomics (basically a grip with a lens barrel on top)
Decent 4MP (interpolated to 8MP) still shots
About 10oz with battery (2x hours of recording)

Not so good
The heavy H264 compression (MPEG4) is evident on "busy" shots. ( waves,grass moving in the wind)
The HD recorded image looks great on a Full HD panel but very ordinary on a standard TV (unlike most MPEG2 recording HD cameras)

So don't judge the camera before you see footage on a good 1080p panel.
