I went to Lowe's last night to purchase some #2 hardware cloth and I could not find any of it. I went to ask one of the employees and they asked every body in the store and there was no one there that even knew what hardware cloth was...I was almost in disbelief that no one there knew what it was.
Any way, I thought that I would get on in here and see if any on had any ideas about where I could get some of the stuff.
Any one have any ideas ?????? sabre11004 thanks

I found it at Lowes in the outdoor garden section early this spring. Don't remember what they called it but it was there.

Yes i found the cloth in the garden section, when i asked no one knew what it was either. As them where the wire is to keep bunnies and moles out of your garden.

I want to make a Heinekin beer pot as well.

Watch out for regular hardware cloth. It is usually held together with the zinc that also rustproofs is. The zinc will melt if exposed to the heat of alcohol or Esbit, and the stand will collapse.

The only 1/4x1/4 hardware cloth that will hold up is welded stainless steel. That's an internet item. http://twpinc.com/

thanks for the links spock. Ive heard that too and have seen my hardware cloth coating flake off so I stopped using it as a stand.

I've never had a problem with the 1/2 inch hardware cloth; the zinc burns off but the welds are still there. They sell it by the running foot at my local Ace hardware store.

The borgs only sell it by the roll, but if you still have a "hardware store" in your town, they might sell it by the foot.

You can find it at Home Depot. They will know what it is. It's usually in the section where they sell fencing stuff. But you might have to buy it in a big roll. Consider splitting it with a fellow DIY-er.

That's right, if you can find 1/2" welded screen, it will not fall apart. But it has to be welded. If it is held by the zinc, it will fail without fail sooner or later - usually sooner.
