Classifieds? - 11/04/12 08:13 PM

I know I'm a new user and need 10 posts (I think?) before I can post in Classifieds is this correct?

Yes, that is correct. We've been discussing also adding a 30 day requirement, but that is not yet reflected in the policies.

Forum Policies

Note particularly this section:
Quote:
NOTE: the moderators reserve the right to delete "For Sale" postings from newly registered members who appear to have circumvented the minimum number of posts requirement, by making multiple, low content posts within a brief time span just to pass that requirement.

We do watch new members closely, and we recently deleted several posts from someone who tried this trick.

What we really want is to get to know you a bit before doing business with you. This acts as some protection for our members.

We're glad to have you aboard and are looking forward to your contributions to this forum!

The classified forum is here only as a service for members, it is not the primary purpose of the site so there are restrictions, as OM states. If you are anxious to sell something, try eBay or Craigslist. I've used both for selling and buying outdoor gear. In fact, I just picked up a pair of snowshoes today that I saw on Craigslist. I've bought all kinds of gear on eBay-tent, stove, compass, parka, pack, a few other things I can't recall at the moment and on Craigslist, I found the snowshoes, a GPSr, a down bag and other stuff. The prices tend to be better on Craigslist for buying things, but the selection is less unless you search all over the place and that is tedious now that Craigslist has shut down the Craigslist Reader by threatening the program developer with a lawsuit. A stupid move in my opinion, but that's another story.

I've bought and sold a couple of things here as well.
