El Cheapo Platty Knokoff?

El Cheapo Platty Knokoff? - 08/12/08 05:02 PM

I was shopping in the grocery store and came across this:

I bought it just for the package alone. Total weight is 1.1 ounces on my digital postal scale for the 1 gallon size...not bad for only $4.99 (half of what a similar name brand bag costs). It seems to have the same basic construction as the Platty's, with the exception of it being made of somewhat lesser materials. Anyone ever used these?

Those look interesting. I wonder about their durability and if they can hold hot liquids like Platys.

That site doesnt mention 1 gallon sizing. Do you mean 1 liter?

I bought a container like the one you have a couple of years ago at an asian market (it had some awful sugary gel goo in it). Mine is much smaller - only a few ounces. I use it for soy sauce and/or sesame oil. I have had it for several years and it's still going strong.
