Is a Ford or Chrysler made in Mexico really an American car?

What Ford or Chrysler models sold in the US are made in Mexico?

Edit: OK, I see the Fusion/Milan/MkZ are assembled in Mexico.

Yep, simplistic statements for the purpose of providing perspective.

MSN list Ford's market capitalization at a little over 6 billion.

Colorado Public Employee Retirement (PERA) has lost 20 billion since October 2007. Enough to buy GM and Ford twice.

Even with 5 year averaging of maket performance this slump could mean the end of all defined benefit retirement plans. Expect for social security and US government plans.

Sorry Paddy, but maybe you could find am employer that knows how to create value with your knowledge and experience.

Consumers don't want value. Consumers want waste. We need to stop turning our potential citizens into mindless wasteful consumers. We need smaller more affordable homes and vehicles, even if we all need to go through a depression to get there.
We need a more useful economy. This dinosaur is just about done. We gotta stop dragging our knuckles on these issues.

p.s. ... and a good 5 cent cigar too maybe, but lots of moderation to go with it.

We could probably buy all of GM outright for around $60b right now.

The total value of ALL GM common stock is less that 3 billion.

The total value of ALL Ford common is about 6 billion.

You can buy both companies for less the 10 billion - about what we spend in Iraq in a month.

I think you have to include their debt in the purchase price, hence my valuation. If you bought all the stock, you'd assume the debt too.

Bill,

You might want to buy the debt.

GM has 45 billion of debt, but a 7.4% bond maturing 9/1/25 is selling for 18 cents on the dollar.

Ford had 156 billion of debt, but a 6.5% bond maturing 8/1/18 is selling for 19 cents on the dollar.

Huge difference between buying back debt and paying off debt.
