I went on a snowshoe trip around Bert's lake next to Loon lake( 3 mile hike-started at 6100 reached 6836-then back down) using these boots ( sno-sealed and gaiters) work just fine, for my first time out.

I used a pair of MSR Lightning Ascent snowshoes , the day was 40-55 degrees. Snow was mostly packed powder

I'm hooked on shoeing now. I think I will invest in a good pair of Columbia Bugloo's for next season when I start snow camping.

Thanks to all for the tips.

Mike

P.S. Forgot used REI Mountain gaiters
