The apple slicer and t-ball is a great idea. You may find that the larger stove is not needed and will use more fuel. I tried using a large heine can to make a stove and it heated with a vengence but used more fuel. I do like my pop can stove and it is my choice because it works great, sips fuel and is very light. My next choice is the heavier brass Trangia I bought online. After burning both the trangia and the popcan I think they both do the basic same job on 1oz of fuel. Your results may vary.
