With REI dividend, don't we always get a percentage off coupon??!! I'm getting ready to purchase new gear & am wondering if I should wait since it's almost dividend & maybe coupon time?
Went to REI to get a new Outdoor Research Seattle sombrero (old one lost a fight with a coyote...don't ask...) with my dividend and found out i am not getting one this year .
Over the last several years my spending there has gotten less and less. They no longer have items that interest me such as higher end items or light weight gear. Maybe it's the next logical evolution of light weight packing...the more proficient we are , the less we need REI.........

The 20% off coupon is for all REI members whether or not you got a dividend. Here it is. There are some restrictions on what you can use it for.
I didn't get a dividend, either. And there's nothing REI has that I want, so I can't use the coupon, either (this is not the first one I've had to let expire). Too bad they're not transferable!

I havn't recd an email or anything in the mail yet about my dividend, I know I spent some money there last year.
The last two holiday seasons, MasterCard has sent me a $10 coupon to use at Penneys if I use my MC. This year I got a second one too, so I took it to Penneys, but after wandering around the store for 15 minutes, I couldn't find anything that I wanted to spend an additional $10-$15 on so I left and threw the coupon away. I was going to buy some socks but they were on sale for under $10 and I couldn't get them according to the associate.:(
I haven't received any dividend yet either, and I spent money there last year. I guess I could call.
I do like to get things on sale from them...and they are supposed to come here to town...the building is in the works. I can't knock the place. I think some of their products are pretty good. And I haven't had any problems with customer service so...
show me dee check!
O-Mouse, you should seek help immediately for this alarming condition. (Either that, or I could forward my wish list...)
I haven't received any dividend notice either, but if you log in your REI online account, add something to your cart, and begin the checkout process, you'll see how much your dividend from last year amounts to. You don't have to buy anything to check this.

I rarely spend a lot of money at REI in any given year. Maybe a couple of hundred dollars total -- they just don't have the kind of gear or clothing that interests me.
On the other hand, my REI dividend is $355.98 this year. We use their credit card for everything, and pay it off every month. We'll probably wait until June and get it in cash -- then go buy a Double Rainbow or something like that.

"This alarming condition" of not wanting anything from REI has nothing to do with my gear wish list but everything to do with the fact that REI doesn't carry anything that is on my wish list! My daughter (as a teenager) said 20 years ago that REI had become a yuppie store along the lines of Banana Republic, and this is even more true today. (Does Banana Republic even exist any more?)

Banana Republic most certainly does still exist: Banana Republic

I went shopping online tonight and got a map and some food items to use my dividend and 20% off coupon. Dividend was under $3, I had them ship the stuff to me as stopping at the store in Reno takes too long when I'm headed home to CA on Friday. I spent some money on a BD tent last year which I used the 20% off on, that must be why no money back on it, since it was discounted. After a bit, it does seem you have all you need. Just remembered, I should have picked up an ice axe for my xc jaunt into the high country in SEKI in late July. Later I guess.

I got about 50 bucks. I was surprised at how low as I bought a lot of odds and ends as well as my school buying me a solo tent for my trip and putting it in my name...but low as it seems, I can't wait to spend it!
