I have a small 2" x 2" L-shaped rip in the foot of my Western Mountaineering bag.
Any recommendations?
Gear Aid Tenacious Tape?
Take it to get sewn?
Send back to WM?

Thanks as always!

I repaired a couple of holes in a sleeping bag from fire embers with tenacious tape. It worked well and has lasted years now. It is the quick, dirty and cheap solution. You've got a decent size rip. I would probably contact WM to see if they would repair it (or who they recommend to repair it) first. Then you can decide if the cheap solution is best for this expensive bag.

I've been using sail repair tape and then sewing around the edges of the patch.

I agree - contact Western Mountaineering and see what they recommend. (Also, if you lost any down, they could re-fill it if necessary if you let them fix it.)

100% agree with Glenn. If WM won't fix it, they will recommend someone--probably Rainy Pass in Seattle. But start with WM!

If the rip were mine, I personally would sew it myself, but thanks to my recent interest in sewing Civil War women's wear, I've gotten pretty good at fine hand sewing. If I did this, I would use a single nylon thread, as fine a needle as would fit the thread, and, afterwards, a tiny bit of seam sealer to fill in the needle holes.
