For trips of a couple of weeks or less, I prefer to go without a stove, assuming resupply isn't a problem. I.e., eating cold dinners means for me that it's helpful (not essential but helpful) to have a bigger selection of food options for resupply. It's just easier without a stove, and for a week or two I don't get bored with my food or feel deprived or anything.

I think this is very much a matter of expectations, what you're used to.

I've heard that other options are Starbucks VIA packets (can make with cold water), Vivarin tabs, Excedrin extra strength. I think even regular coffee grounds left for awhile in cold water work; filter grounds out eventually with coffee filter or bandana.

Various combinations of nuts(macadamias, pecans, pine, walnut, almonds, pistachios, etc) seeds(sunflower, pepitas, hemp, sesame, flax, etc), granola, dried unsweetened roasted coconut chips/flake(Dang, Bare Naked, Trader Joes, etc), macaroons, dried(powdered hummus) reconstituted w/ H20 and olive oil(toted in a screw capped bottle in a Ziploc), Bell Plantation peanut butter crackers, Kashi Fire Roasted Veggie crackers, Sun Chips, WASA crackers, nutritional bars(ProBar, Bumblebars, Best bars, LARA, Nicole's Nutty Goodness, Zing, Luna, and nut butters such as made by Artisana/Justins/Wild Squirrel(Wild Friends),Gu or Hammer gels, green drinks, VEGA MEAL replacement, jerky( I like Ahi tuna, organic chicken and buffalo jerky on trail), no sugar added dried fruits(mango, currants, figs, mulberries!(good food), banana(TJ's makes a good cheap flattened banana!), cranberries, etc, GOOD REAL high cacao content chocolate, Energy Squares(I make my own), fresh fruit and veggies eaten raw.....................
