Greetings. I like to use the sawyer squeeze mini as an inline filter attached to my camelback, or as a gravity filter as needed.
I do not like to use the mini as a squeeze filter as I find it very tedious with either bags or bottles.
For those that use their mini inline, how do you keep it from freezing while you are hiking? I don't really like putting the filter under my jacket but haven't thought of a better solution. At night I am fine with putting the filter in the sleeping bag.
I am thinking of maybe switching to aquamira during cold weather trips.

Howdy,

Confess I never concerned myself with freeze prevention during the day, just overnight. I suppose pocketing it is the most reliable way, although it's also possible stowing it inside your sleeping bag would insulate it enough during the hiking day to keep it safe, unless it's really, really cold.

So, how cold is it? Ooh, I know--stow it inside your bag along with a chemical handwarmer.

Chemical treatment slows down as water approaches freezing, so isn't practical either. UV is probably the way to go if you don't want to fuss with filtering, or melting snow for that matter.

That's a really great question! I have to admit I hadn't really thought of that. I am eager to hear what other people has done to combat this problem.I just ordered a sawyer mini so I would be interested to hear.
