Just went to my local store and checked out the Ibex and Smartwool wool tops. The Smartwool hoodie and zip-tee didn't quite fit right in a medium. Loved the Ibex Woolies 220 Zip T as it comes in a nice green colour is is a lightweight and good-fitting on my even though it is a large. Never knew that Ibex was so popular, and with so many different weights and colours. Didn't feel too itchy, may want to keep it as an extra layer for mornings and evenings.

This is so true. Underarmour 15 years ago got RANCID faster than anything else I've ever worn.

The timing on this thread is fortunate. I'm looking at upgrading my long johns for sleeping in/camp wear.

Has anyone used capiline 3?

Steadman, I'm repeating myself in case you don't scroll back to the first page. I have a top that is Capilene 4. Got it on sale last year during one of the semi-annual sales. I really like it. Very warm. Back in the day when Capilene came in only light, medium and heavy, I got a medium top and bottom and both are still wearing well. Unlike some of the newer stuff, they and my new top don't have a pattern woven into them, just plain smooth material, although the 4 top is kind of fuzzy on the inside. Can't beat this stuff as far as I'm concerned. However, at retail, it is pretty darn pricey.

Check... saw the earlier post... wasn't sure if anyone had experience using the "3" level stuff and could describe it. I've handled "1" and "2" - "1" is paper thin, "2" is slightly heavier than a heavy weight t-shirt... what's "3" and "4" like for those of us who haven't handled it? From your description, "4" is like a lightweight sweatshirt???
