I'd say I never really have a problem keeping my core warm. I'm also pretty active so I don't see why my circulation would be lacking. Reynaud's seems like it has some simple solutions to combat so I'll give those a try and see how it goes.

For now though I'll try a new combo of Smartwool liners, Fox River wool mitts and MLD rain mitts. Soon I'll be heading off on a trip and will spend the last three weeks on the GR5. Good ample testing grounds I suppose.

My wife has Reynaud's, a side effect of lupus. She's tried using a standard glove "system", light liners, fleece inner, and a good shell mitt. The liners didn't work. Her hands stayed warmer without the liners. Liners may restrict circulation. I like liners in that you can remove outer layers for delicate tasks, I'm going to get her a loose-fitting pair of liners and see if that helps. She may have to go to an all mitt solution, with the liner, insulator and shell being mitts.

Alpaca,

Great name, I love alpaca wool. Try wearing a hat. A wool or capilene type watch cap works well especially while sleeping. Your hands are cold probably because you are slightly underdressed and the blood flow in your extremeties is impaired.
