Do your boots have a hook at the top of the foot, where it bends to cover the ankle? If so you can do a lock-lace technique to hold your heel in place and prevent slipping. This is where, instead of catching the hooks on an upward motion, you wrap down and toward the toe before coming up to the next set of hooks. I have used this technique successfully for years now and no longer have problems with heel blisters or delamination.

I once had a delamination situation on my heel that was so severe (from rubbing in hiking boots) that it took about 10 years before I no longer had to protect my heels anymore. I don't reccommend letting it get to that point wink
