Looking through all these posts there is something that I haven't seen mentioned. What I call a "General health" card.

Basically every 6 months, (and before hiking season) I make up a card that outlines important medical information.

On the card I put:
The date the card was printed
My name
My Age
My weight
My blood type
A contact Phone #
A list of important medical information. (i.e Asthmatic - Severe, No known medical allergies, Heart Murmur (VSD))

And anything else that could be important to know quickly( if you are on something that has a high chance of interacting, I would recommend noting that as well). I make sure to laminate it so that it will stand up to some wear and tear.

I print it on neon paper and it sits in front of my Drivers License. When hiking, I have the one in my wallet, and an additional one in the medkit.

I suppose it's good to carry a health card. I don't, except for what's on my driver's license (and probably most of that information is there). I don't think it's silly, but as I get older I ignore more of the rules. I quit telling people where I'm going and when I'll return way back in the 70's and being hauled out really isn't on my list of priorities any more. That's not intended as good advice for anyone, it's just what I do.
